Positions

The Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (CEECS) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) invites applications for a non-tenure track instructor position to support the teaching mission of the department's undergraduate computer science program. The teaching load is eight courses per nine-month academic year, with summer teaching often possible on a separate contract. Duties will include undergraduate teaching and service in department-level committees. The position is expected to start in August 2017.

Candidates must have at least an M.S. degree in computer science or a closely related field by the time they apply. Candidates should have a broad background spanning all areas of computer science. It is preferred that candidates hold a doctorate and/or have extensive applied software development experience.Required areas of expertise include, but are not limited to: Internet/Web/Mobile Programming, Systems Programming (Unix), Java, Python, and C/C++.

FAU, which has over 30,000 students, is one of 12 state universities in Florida. The CEECS department is located on the FAU Boca Raton campus. The department has more than 40 faculty members and offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science, computer engineering and electrical engineering, and an M.S. degree in bioengineering. It has over 660 undergraduate, 140 M.S. and 80 Ph.D. students.

Transcripts for faculty positions must be an official copy scanned into an electronic format and attached to the application. Degrees from outside the United States must be validated by an organization belonging to the National Association of Credential Evaluation Service (NACES), with an indication of the documents the evaluation was prepared from (official transcripts, diplomas, dissertation abstracts). The evaluation should be scanned and electronically attached to the application.

An unofficial transcript may be used during the hiring process to assure that the prospective faculty member may be credentialed for the courses they are expected to teach. An official transcript sent directly from the institution is required for the Provost's credential file prior to the first day of employment. Similarly, for degrees from outside the United States, the evaluation by an organization belonging to the National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES), with an indication of the documents the evaluation was prepared from (official transcripts, diplomas, dissertation abstracts) is required for the Provost's credential file prior to the first day of class.
